The Thornton Police Officers Foundation Focuses on the importance of the relationship between the Thornton Police Department and the community it serves.

Who We Are

Board of Directors

The foundation is consisted of seven directors and be known as the Thornton Police Officers Foundation Board of Directors. The Board consists of the President, Treasurer and two Board members from the Thornton Police Officers Association Lodge # 16.  The remaining three directors will be titles Directors at Large.

Membership

 Membership of the foundation shall consist of individuals who are members in good standing of the Thornton Police Officers Association Lodge # 16 or are citizens of the community willing to volunteer their time. There shall be no dues payable by any member.

OUR FOCUS

The Thornton Police Officers Foundation recognizes the importance of the relationship between the Thornton Police Department and the community it serves.  We also recognize the importance of educating the public about Thornton Police Department and Thornton Police Officers Foundation activities.  The Thornton Police Officers Foundation will support activities to strengthen these relationships and advance education efforts.  The Thornton Police Officers Foundation plans to create numerous events to help broaden the community relationship between the Thornton Police department, the Thornton Police Officers Foundation and the community.

It is the mission, duty and purpose of the Thornton Police Officers Foundation to create partnerships to provide resources and programs that help the Thornton Police Department perform at their highest level and to enhance community relations.

The purpose of the foundation is to solicit, collect, and otherwise raise revenue for charitable purposes: to expand, contribute, disburse and dispose of the same for such purposes relating to the goals of the Thornton Police Officers Foundation.

— Our Story

The Thornton Police Officers Foundation was formed as a nonprofit organization on May 14, 2018.

The Thornton Police Officers Foundation is organized exclusively for charitable purposes, including, for such purposes the making of distributions to individuals and organizations that  qualify as exempt organizations under section 501 (C) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code. No part of the net earnings of the Foundation shall be used to or for the benefit of, or be distributable to the members, trustees, officers or private persons, except those that the Foundation shall be empowered to pay reasonable compensation for services rendered. No part of the activities of the Foundation shall be utilized to influence legislation and the Foundation shall not participate in, or intervene in any political campaign on behalf or in opposition to any candidate for public office. The Foundation shall not carry on any activities not permitted to be carried on by a foundation exempt from federal income tax under  section 501 (C) (3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
